What this site knows about you

If you just browse

There are no third-party trackers, ad networks, analytics scripts, or tracking cookies on this site. The server keeps self-hosted, anonymous, aggregate statistics — which pages are viewed and how often — recorded entirely server-side with nothing running in your browser.

To tell visitors apart within a single day, the server derives an identifier from a one-way hash of your IP address and browser signature mixed with a secret and the current date. The raw IP address and browser details are never stored, the hash cannot be reversed, and because the date is part of it, it cannot link your visits across days. Per-view records are deleted after 90 days; only daily totals are kept. Browsers sending Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals are not recorded at all.

Your theme choice (dark/light) is stored in your own browser's localStorage and never leaves your device.

If you sign in

Sign-in uses a provider you already trust (GitHub, Google, or Discord). This site receives and stores only your email address and display name from that provider — never a password. Your email is used to identify your account across providers and is not shown publicly or shared with anyone.

If you set a custom display name or upload an avatar, those are stored too. Avatars are resized on the server and stripped of embedded photo metadata (EXIF) before being saved.

If you comment

Your comment text, the time you posted it, and your account are stored so the comment can be displayed and so you can delete it later.

About anonymous comments: choosing "post anonymously" hides your name and avatar from other visitors, but the comment remains linked to your account in the database — the site owner can see who wrote it. This exists so moderation works; it is not a promise of anonymity from the site owner.

If you use the contact form

The name, email address, subject, and message you submit are stored in the site's database and also delivered to Joshua Mykitta by email. They're used solely to read and reply to your message.

Cookies

One kind: a sign-in session cookie, set only after you sign in, so the site remembers who you are. No tracking or advertising cookies exist here.

Where data lives & how long

Everything is stored on infrastructure operated by the site owner — no third-party data processors beyond your chosen sign-in provider and the email delivery of contact messages. Data is kept until you delete it or ask for it to be deleted.

Your choices

• Delete any of your own comments directly on the page they appear.
• Remove your avatar or display name on your profile page.
• Ask for your account and everything tied to it to be deleted by emailing joshua.j.wren@gmail.com — this is honored without fuss.
